Atlassian vs Bloomberg SWE internship

I am a Junior, and I have SWE internship offers from Atlassian and Bloomberg. I’m not very concerned about internship pay (both are good), I care more about the return offer and want to choose a company that is better long-term. Some things I’m considering are new grad pay, career growth, odds of getting a return offer, job stability / risk of layoff, wlb, company culture, etc I haven’t listed a location for Atlassian because they’re letting me choose between NYC, Austin, San Francisco, Mountain View, and Seattle. I’m conflicted in choosing between an office; Bloomberg however offers only NYC. I aim to be a back-end & distributed systems / infra engineer, so an environment that would better help foster this career trajectory would be great I’m kind of leaning to Atlassian because they offer fully remote. I can come to the office 5 days a week or choose not to. For Bloomberg, you have to be at the office minimum 3 days a week. So there’s a little less flexibility with Bloomberg. Bloomberg. Better job security and pay. Only unfortunate thing is that they have slow vertical growth

Bloomberg RTGo Nov 11, 2023

Bigger issue is NYC with zero flexibility

This. Who cares if you're an L7, but as a new grad zero vertical growth with HCOL is not ideal.

Bloomberg, it's like a giant science fair and you can experiment with any technology you want with no concern of the bottom line or any business needs. Also much more stable than any other tech company.

I'd personally go with Atlassian, but that's just me. Bloomberg probably better for early career only if you're going to job hop. Atlassian for long term choice. Your career growth at Atlassian would probably be slower, and remote is often attractive to young engineers but it's a big mistake a lot of young engineers make - they go remote and feel like they aren't getting the support they need. You'll have to be very proactive. With that said, you couldn't go wrong with Atlassian either, and they're known to be pretty chill (although that may not be as true these days with all the doom and gloom in the industry). "I’m kind of leaning to Atlassian because they offer fully remote" *Go to Atlassian if that's your gut choice, nothing wrong with that (but you'll need to be self driven as a remote junior dev). I think it's also important to get a read on how you feel talking to the employees of the company you will work at as well.
