I have a Senior Software Engineer Lead who quite frankly in my opinion is a savant and perhaps even genius. The typical dev lead where I'm at is over 3 to 4 decent sized services / apps. He is over 48 and the two primary WS gateways. He's a wonderful person and any company would be lucky have someone with half his skill. It troubles me how poorly the company treats and compensates him based on his capabilities. I want to find him a new job. We're good friends now after working back to back for years.
