Audi or Volvo?

Buying a new car, as we’ve had a good run with our 2010 VW sedan and it’s time for something with a little more room/more modern tech. Looking for a small SUV, ideally. We drove a Subaru Forrester but not impressed. Currently between an Audi Q3 and a Volvo XC40. There’s about 2-3 grand between them (Volvo at the trim we want is more). I know next to nothing about cars and I’m fairly partial. I’d like it to be nice to sit in and drive well, but otherwise my priorities are reliability and the features I want (leather seating, moonroof, shit like that). I also have a kid and might have another at some point. I’m pretty old but this will be the first one I actually really buy for myself. Curious to hear what others think. Have read Audis can be unreliable. Is that true? Any brand loyalists one way or the other? Others I should be considering that I’m not? TC: 300k+

I see you are looking for convenience . Make sure you get wireless Apple car play. I know I’m Q7 they have it. We have XC 90 and it is wired only ( sucks ). Otherwise both cars are good. If you can’t decide , take a test drive.

Have xc90 too and also a bmw which has wireless car play. Wireless is only useful for short distances. U always want to connect the cable for it to charge but now some like the xc40 come with wireless charging pads

Buy XC40. What you heard about Audi is true. Audis are very unreliable. Q3 is money pit.

Volvos are good if you don't care about the soccer mom/rich old person car image lol. BTW an all-electric XC40 Recharge is coming out soon, maybe you'll want to wait a little bit.

Love my XC90

If all your desired conveniences are present I’d go with the Volvo for reliability and the focus on safety. Not that Audi is unsafe or anything, but Volvo takes it to another level.

If you want reliable car - get Lexus. Have colleagues with Q5/Q7 - there is always something wrong with them after 4 years

Although I'm a huge fan of Volvo, I'd suggest you check out the new Q3. It's hard to tell the difference between the new Q3 and Q5.

Between those two, go with Volvo.

This is super helpful. Thanks, everyone! I think we are leaning toward the Volvo for the reasons listed.

Did you buy the Volvo?
