East coast. Boston or NJ
You didn’t ask but don’t consider NJ. Newark area is shady.
Thanks, yeah I think i am gona stay in Boston
It’s better to get an offer in writing.
I got the actual offer
I was just making a joke on the company name, “Audible.”
PIP culture and stack ranking. WLB depends on the team. Lots of politics. Area around the Newark office is fine, but it is closed anyways.
seriously? I’ve heard people saying that the culture is better than amazon but from these comments, they sound the same at this point.
It is marginally better than Amazon. It certainly aspires to be, at least, and that bar is pretty easy to clear. Still, the pip end of things skews it all poorly and Amazon's culture rubs off more and more as time drags on.
My God! I thought Audible has better culture than Amazon. Is it that bad or you really have to f*** up big time to get into PIP?
Nope, doesn’t matter if you’re doing good or bad. Every org greater than certain number of people (50+ i guess) has 6% Unregretted Attrition quota to meet. Who’s thrown under bus depends on the managers. The reason to pip someone could be performance (you’re good but not better than rest of 94%), favoritism, racism, sexism or a even weird dream your manager had about you.
Really surprised people say Audible has PIP culture, I haven't seen it happen while being here, and the culture is definitely better than Amazon, a lot of Amazon folks do cross over to Audible from time to time.
I’m confused my the other commentators here, as the team I work on is very chill and I have a great WLB. I haven’t heard of anyone getting PIPed here
Yeah even I am confused. Some people describe it as best place to work while others describe it as just like Amazon.
Welcome to the Blind culture
Are you a SDE, SDM or QA or TPM or PM or something else? Culture is very chill and if you get PIP here you didn't do any work or complete misfit for team/role. You don't need to worry about pip here. It's a Day 2 culture in most teams as someone above mentioned.
Thanks bro. I will be Sr. TPM
There is no career path for that role but enjoy your time and use it as a way to transfer to another Amazon team once inside.
Thanks bro.
Is it easy to transfer to another amazon team once inside ?
Yes very easy
Moving within Audible is actually encouraged. Moving to Amazon may need an interview loop, which should be shorter/easier than new hire loops.
What was the offer? Expecting to get one soon, seems to be about 220. How much should I target for SDE 2?
Did you get offer
Yes, it has pip. Based on east coast or Seattle?
Also it’s typical day2 org like most of digital orgs if that matters to you. Wlb depends on the team you’ll be joining, few are super heavy on ops
What does "day2" mean?
