What’s the vibe working at Audible? Cambridge/Boston office. Does it feel like Amazon?
Rapidly declining, be careful
agreed
Agree with the above. The culture is very political - at this point I might as well become a politician. Lots of pressure from leadership to do more with less. People are being over worked and management doesn’t care about employee wellbeing. If something goes wrong leadership will do everything to find someone to blame and publicly shame them. I see this happen every week on an org wide call. Constantly shifting priorities and product has zero alignment on the vision resulting in a lots of redundant effort across the org. I’d say stay away if you can as it’s only going to get worse. They are also tracking badges and escalating to managers for those not meeting RTO. This is my first in office job in 7 years and it has completely downgraded my quality of life. I am out as soon as the market improves.
Thank you! This in incredibly helpful. Hope you find something better soon!
Cambridge tech teams are top notch!
Used to be rest and vest , you can get away with doing 0 work for years. Now they are starting to crack down
Political culture is so toxic that it even forces high performers to become average employees. Your intelligence will be questioned or criticized. The stakeholders will treat you like personal secretaries. And your job is maintenance of stakeholders happiness as they are ultimate money maker for the company
Couldn’t have put it better
Genuinely curious- which stakeholders are you talking about? Which role are you at? I agree that environment is political but being an SDE, I did not face the exact problem that you described.
Cambridge office is nice but barely anyone comes in. Nearly 1:1 desk to employee ratio which means you don’t have to fight over desks and meeting rooms like in Newark office. They do some events now and then but the bulk of the social stuff is dialing into a live stream from Newark.
Is there an option for remote at audible? Joining soon and want to know. For sde 1
Not many people fully remote anymore, I expect salary will be less too. Everyone has to come in 2x a week.
