Austin vs Dallas
I am currently living in Redmond, Washington, 31F, married, no kids looking to move to Texas and debating between Austin and Dallas. Which do you think is a better place to live and why? My priorities are kids schooling, career opportunities and local investments(like rental properties) TC: 240k

I am based out of Austin. If you are not in the semiconductor industry like me I suggest you move to Dallas especially if you are in software. Dallas is much bigger city less cost of living, better schools and better traffic and highways. Advantages of Austin are FAANG companies and lot other tech companies are here compared to Dallas.
Your response is very confusing. If there are FAANG companies in Austin, why is Dallas a better choice for SWE?
Read again FAANG companies are one of merits for Austin otherwise in my opinion Dallas is better than Austin in cost of living schools traffic real estate

Austin, is the obvious choice.
Austin for sure. Lived in Dallas for a year, it was cheaper but not much things to do. Living in Austin tho also has other big city problems like homeless ppl.
