FB rewards hacking, making engineering debt and passing down debts to someone else. As an industry hire, FB is the worst place to be in. Short term impact has ruined company culture. Codebase is garbage, Immatured management, stock performance has been abysmal. The only good thing about FB is the paycheque. What will change FB? - A few more lawsuits. - A few public article highlighting the shitty culture.
I’m just disgusted by all the fake smiles on people’s faces in this company. In orientation they said, “this is now your company” and everyday I felt “this is not my company.” Some people are still quite happy here but that’s so remote to me. They probably aren’t in engineering. I hated the culture here, the culture of blaming one and another when something goes south, and the hidden politics all over the place. I have > 10 years of working experience in 4 different companies, and this one feels the worst to me because of its hypocrisy and crookedness all over the place. The experience may only occur to higher levels though (E6+) since more bs are dealt with. Op, the other good things about this company are perks and prestigiousness on resume. I got more contacts from recruiters because of the name. But I guess they don’t really know the culture inside.
Spot on.
I saw FB hire one of my weakest graduates and was like Damn.. You guys are getting desperate
I guess is team/manager based similar to Amazon ?
Name a company where you don't have politics, engineering debt and culture issues.
MSFT
Lol
Money talks. The culture will not change unless the stock stops growing and whole changes are made to leadership (drop zuck). What's the motto these days? Move fast with great infra? Seems like something zuck pulled out of his ass. Great infra implies engineering designs and vetting time.
Move fast and let some one else deal with your mess.
In third world countries the better-off folks live up river. Folks down river have to deal with the shit floating down. This is essentially Facebook's engineering process.
Lol FB people lying about bad culture to scare away people from Microsoft and Amazon.
Obviously scared off IBM folks ;)
The craze for FB at msft and amzn is unprecedented. Never seen employees from other companies be so obsessed about FB.
I thought reviews were done last week? People still bitter?
It’s probably the ones that didn’t do so well that are bitter.
Impressive timing.
Any company becomes like this after growing more than certain size. And only new grads believe that company has great engineering practices and no politics. After you spend enough time working for different companies you realize that it is same shit in different pots, more or less. Deal with it. Companies pay a lot of money just to deal with that shit.
Google is apparently still great
Google is special my friend.
Op, what level?
E6
It’s still FANG dude, imagine what the rest of the world must go through

Thank you for your insight. Paycheque? Hmm wondering if you are desi or firangi
Actually I'm pretty sure only the US uses the "check" spelling instead "cheque". The second seems to be the default in Canada so I assume also the UK. http://grammarist.com/spelling/check-cheque/
Literally only the US uses “check”. The letter q is too difficult, apparently. Thanks for the xenophobia and unnecessary belittling though!
