I recently had my first interview with Microsoft for a "remote" role, and unfortunately, it was an extremely disappointing experience. While Apple is often criticized for its interview process, I found Microsoft to be even worse. The recruiters and hiring managers I encountered seemed pathetically incompetent, with no responsiveness to follow-up emails and a tendency to ghost candidates. It's astonishing to see such a large company operate with such ineffective and unintelligent management. TC: $370K
Wow 😮 but I feel like every companies’ recruiters are like this. I have spoken with Oracle, Amazon, TikTok. Meta’s recruiters are amazing though. They go out of their way to help you. Also If you think Microsoft is bad, try interviewing with oracle🫠🫠🫠🫠 Their recruiters never reply and will schedule a full round loop interview for the next day without telling you what the rounds are actually about.
No, I can vouch for that. One time my friend asked to the MS recruiter for 10% more. They sent him someone else's offer letter for 15% less. They realized the mistake but F.
Lol if it’s so pathetic then why bother applying? You sound like a salty manchild
Because of the remote friendly role. You don't know until you go through the process.
Incompetent is accurate.
You should call a Wahhhh-bulance
Holy crap I thought I was alone! The recruiters at Microsoft are so bad, at one point I thought they were automated or a chatbot. I have interviewed with hundreds of companies in my career and never has there been worse than Microsoft. The ghosting is only the tip of the iceberg. Three recruiters, the same three results The last one was a random interview invite Didn't even ask me what my scheduled looked like. TC: 220k YOE: 15
It’s fine if you check the right DEI boxes
Recruiting is so bad across the industry right now. Most tech companies slashed recruiting to almost nothing and now that hiring is starting up there aren’t enough recruiters left to handle the load. We just finished hiring 12 positions on my team. It took months for recruiting to get through the backlog.
It's the current environment. As a hiring manager I am frustrated with our recruiting situation (post the large lay off et al from 2023). It used to be much better.

What income is enough for you?
Just because it didn’t work out for you, doesn’t mean if won’t work out for others. Just admit you’re salty and be done with it. Crazy that these are adults making these posts.
The initial interview (and the only interview) proceeded as a casual discussion with the hiring manager. He expressed enthusiasm about my background, describing it as "fantastic," and mentioned that the recruiter would communicate the next steps via email. Despite sending several follow-up emails, there has been no response or further communication from anyone. MonaMomy: Your remark aligns seamlessly with what I anticipate from leadership at Microsoft. Are you a leader at Microsoft?
Apple is worse, stop whining and move on. Some people can’t even get a call back.
