What is a reasonable TC expectation for an ECM Associate at a bulge bracket bank?
MM associates are making 150K base. BB should not be less than that and if so — no brainer on where to go
Agree - TC wise probs say associates are mid to high 200’s to mid to high 300’s are reasonable; would say it’s a hot market
Definitely, don’t see it going away anytime soon.
Most Bulge bracket banks have base salaries of $150k for Associate (first year), and bonuses tend to be in 50-100%. But significant majority of them will be in the 50-70% bonus range.
Any thoughts on how to lateral into ECM w/o B-school? Have front office, asset management experience, but not a ton of connectivity to sell-side anymore
Figure out your value add and pitch it. The main drivers are relationships and advisory expertise. It's pretty important to have a mix of both. Pick an industry, go to there confs, network... Learn a lot about the ins and outs of equity/option compensation and equity / convertible / debt financing. Then be ready to talk about it at the confs Slowly build a book of business and make money
105 base + 50%-100% bonus
Comp has picked up $150-$175 base as a first year picking up 25k per year and 50-125% base as bonus
Yep, this sounds realistic. Would expect 250K-300K first year with a 50K increase per year at least ( this is average TC ).
