Recently received a support role job offer from Bloomberg Asia office. I am aware the standard working hours is 8am - 6pm, however does anyone know if this is a strict rule that you have to stay all the time in the office? I just want to know how's the flexibility be like in Bloomberg. Like can I work 8am - 12pm at home and go to the office in the afternoon? Or is there a core time that you have to show up? How does most of the people do to cope with this longer working hours? I have been working from home since covid so suddenly switch to a full time + 1 hour schedule in the office might be a painful transition. #hybrid #wfh #bloomberg
Love factset, the best WLB ever. Very fond of my time there. They pay peanuts though.
agree. But the problem is most of the people are too comfortable. If I get anyone's meaningful reply within 1 day, then I am lucky.
We don't pay peanuts. It's not the highest, no where near the lowest. And all cash
I used to work at BBG and the 8-6 is very strict. They track your badge when you enter and exit. I’ve not heard of partial wfh days but I used to work there before the pandemic. I have friends who still work there and bbg is requiring 4 days rto. It’s a great company to work for but it’s not flexible. Good luck
thank you for the information. this is exactly the concern.
No worries, even pre pandemic when everyone was in office I found the hours to be long. The switch from completely remote to hybrid 3 days 8-6 may be jarring. However I met some of my best friends there and you will work with great people. Depends what you want!
There is not much flexibility outside of engineering. I wouldn't count on anything.
Badge in and out time shows up on your profile. If you consistently come in very late, the upper management will ask your manager why you are doing so. But no one cares if you arrive at 9 or 10 as long as you don't miss the meetings. Some teams do daily standup in the early morning so it's team dependent. Software engineers WFH 3 days a week but it's going to be 4 eventually.
thank you for the information. Sounds like there is still a tiny space of flexibility.
It's team specific but in Eng I don't know of any teams that enforce 8-6
thank you for the info! but unfortunately I will be more on a client facing role...
Totally depends on the team then. Hopefully there is some flexibility for you.
additionally consider if being in asia do you need to attend late night calls with teams in ny/ldn ? otherwise regular hours per region being 8-5 or 9-6 are inline
yes I am also expecting some late night calls with EMEA/US. In Asia if you don't show up in those kind of calls from time to time, when you have a question/request your priority go to the bottom.
