Got 2 offers don’t know which one to choose. Seems like bcg can learn a lot, good to put it on a resume. However they pay less than expected. wlb BCG is not as good as expedia i would assume. Feel free to comment if you know either career path look like, how fast to get promoted or get pay raise etc.
I don't think Solution Analyst is a consulting-track position, so the long term value is not worthwhile
Location?
Chicago, why?
Curious, know some peeps at Chi office for Expedia
Moved from Meta to Expedia; best choice ever.
Why so?
I joined from Meta for a much lower salary for a couple of reasons: - WLB: Due to better WLB people here are MUCH nicer too, probably because they’re less stressed. After some point, people at Meta talk like robots. I started talking like a robot too for a while. - Tech: After some point you can’t learn much at Meta because the majority of teams use proprietary tools (and languages). Most teams won’t touch Git, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Java, C, Python etc etc - Collaboration: depends on the team, but some engineers within each team in Meta compete hard with each other instead of collaborating. They’re leaderboards that compare how many lines of codes, PRs, comments, referrals etc each engineer makes. DAILY. - Industry: Here things are simpler, travelling doesn’t get much negative publicity as an industry. Meta is nuts. Moving from Meta to Expedia was literally one of the best choices I’ve in the last couple of years. Less money, more happiness :)

SA is one of the lowest tier in BCG. Go to Expedia if you want to be in tech
