I wasn’t laid off. SDE2. Have offer for a MLE position in a company that was acquired by a media firm to get into streaming space. Not a startup anymore. 50 percent TC increase. Have a PhD and feel down leveled in current role. Have been trying to change to AS over last year but didn’t get proper manager support because of too much manager churn. Should I change? Pro: More salary. Maybe properly leveled. Will work in ML which I really enjoy. Con: Staring to work on role transition in earnest, might happen in a year. Small company might be unstable and prone to layoffs. Team in Amazon seems better quality than the team in this new company. Most important con that is giving me nightmares: shall I be leaving a good company for a mediocre one and then not be able to join a good company because there may be a tech winter. Current TC : 240 at current stock price New TC: 380

ALERT: House Dems just voted UNANIMOUSLY to give illegals representation in Congress AND the Electoral College.
If you think the new company is mediocre then you definitely shouldn't go there and stay. But otherwise, the new opportunity sounds a significantly better.
