Comp, exact employment dates and in some cases the title. Now remember they will only verify what you put what is on your employment application not the resume. Many times companies that have a concept of internal and external title don't reveal the title in the check. There will absolutely NO info in why you left. So if you got fired for performance it will not be revealed. Laid off - same thing, absolutely nothing other than the 3 things I mentioned above and that too ONLY for the jobs you list on the application.

You need to submit a job application for a specific role at all companies. FANG and other companies make you do it before the 1st onsite. Most certainly your offer will not happen before you formally submit an app. Remember the resume is not a legal document. You can President of something on the resume but the app MUST have the actual title you had at the previous company. Companies also have the right to audit your app years after you join and if they find discrepancy they can fire you.

What gets verified varies according to the level of service purchased. Most checks will verify title, tenure, and comp levels.
