Recruiter reached out about an associate level role (1-3 YOE) at Bain Capital as a part of their public markets team. Target base is 75-125k he says. What can be expected for the bonus? Also, what’s the culture there - WLB, progression, interesting work? Thanks. - 115 TC 1 YOE #buyside #pe #vc #hedgefund
I agree base is completely meaningless. Bonus often makes up >50% of comp for associates and >75% for principals
Not sure if comp is different in public markets. On the private side, would expect something like 250k TC.
You can't judge comp in PE without looking at bonus. Those numbers are meaningless.
Yes, the recruiter just said “75-125 base plus bonus”. Also, this isn’t for a traditional PE role, but a newer small team focused on ESG.
Rip. Try posting on WSO and see what bonus this group gets paid. Isn't a lot of your comp going to be that? Ask recruiter for last year's comp numbers
