Am I the only one finding more than strange that all big tech are using Bain to organize their layoffs and seems to have the exact same playbook?
They use Bain and McKinsey.
Or Boston Consulting Group
The playbook reads: 1) Decide how many to layoff (x) 2) Find x people to layoff 3) for(I=0; I<x; I++) layoffPerson(I); 4) sendEmailWithEmptyRemorse(); 5) startHiringAgain();
6) TakeFullResponsibility()
Should be lower case t
We use McKinsey layoff services.
They hire us because we bring the best practices If we are using the best practices in two different companies the approaches will seem very similar
🤢
If it’s the same practice in all companies then it’s no longer a best practice— it becomes mediocre practice 😅
They got electrolytes!
They want to show it was done in a legal way (think discrimination lawsuits), it's a good way to reduce legal exposure. Looks similar because the needs are the same at all companies.
My company hired Bain to do some chopping but by that time attrition was so high due to shitty mgmt that no layoffs were necessary. Yet Bain had to make some money out of the assignment so came with a layoff number of 300 which ended up being a shit show.
layoffAsService.
ceo taking full responsibility is a standard template
i guess it's too much to expect the companies who have ceo's that were too incapable to prevent layoffs would also be too incapable to execute layoffs themselves o wellz, good thing they make all the money, i think it makes life more fair
