I always see Amazonians justifying external hires getting 100-150k+ more than internal promotions by justifying that external hires are those who “raise the bar” and hence deserve more than someone who has been at the company for long. How brainwashed are people at Amazon? How the fuck can people buy into this? Amazon just keeps lowering the bar and hiring shitty engineers by offering them high pay because nobody wants to work there. Insane how the few smart people working there think it’s justified to be paid less. Just as an example, internal L6 promo puts you at $280k, where as external hires are making $550-600k+ TC: 380k, 4yoe
