How are you able to afford 8500 with 400K TC?
220k post tax, 8500/month is comfortable right?
It’s upper end of comfortable if TC is almost all cash, risky if it’s significantly RSUs.
Belmont has great schools. House prices vary depending on how close to the 101 you are. Min about 1.5M to max 3.5M
Great schools shows a big drop when you go east of El Camino and again east of 101. For elementary schools. Are there specific neighborhoods in Belmont to avoid or I should aim for (sub 2.5 million for 3bed)
Seriously in the BRSSD school district all the schools are good. Nesbitt has a more diverse student body but they also get more funding and have smaller class sizes

Saratoga and Los Gatos are both quite expensive. $8500/mon won’t go very far. At current rate this only qualifies for a 1.6-1.7M house I believe.
Not all areas there are expensive. Homes obviously won’t be very large (1300 - 1800 sqft) and will be old, but you can expand in future due to large lot sizes.
How much are you all paying for your home monthly? I thought 8000 was low end for the Bay Area. With current rates there is hardly anything you can get

Come to the east bay, plenty of good schools. Communities with totally different lifestyle depending on what you want... From country rural areas to suburbia shopping lol. Message me if you want specific info, happy to help

Easy now, all the responses were mostly centered around the South Bay. I simply offered to share info about the East Bay. The reason to message me was not bog down the thread with potentially useless specific info about the East Bay if no one cared about the East Bay lol
Why can't anyone ever ask for crap schools? It's always "I need the best of the best of everything and I don't wanna pay much". I'd ask for crap schools - then again, I don't have kids for reasons :)

Well, the Fed chair literally just said there will be pain in households and they will work hard to destroy demands, and reduce inflation. I would say if you are buying now, you are actively fighting against the federal reserve.
