Long story short: the people with the money want the operation to be tighter. I found out today. I've never been laid off. I'm a software engineer with my first year under my belt. I don't know what next steps to take aside from the nebulous 'look for a job'. I'll be in my current position through December. Thanks.
As a PM at a larger firm I was laid off due to budgets around the same time last year, a few recommendations. - Regardless of your finances, start tightening your belt and cut out/reduces expenses. Plan for the worst hope for the best - Update your resume now - Sign up for LinkedIn premium - Go on angel.co and create a profile - Get onto Hired - look at where your social circles are an see if you can use them as internal Reqs for jobs Personally I never told any job I interviewed for that I was unemployed/laid off. I was worried they’d see it as a negative. Left me LI as employed until I landed somewhere new. To that, I tried not to sound desperate on the calls/interviews and scheduled them as if I was working. As Q4 closes, it was harder to find a position as budgets weren’t set yet but best of luck.
What is the benefit of LinkedIn premium?
I think the biggest advantage is that you can set a status that your looking an recruiters can reach out. Also you get credits for InMessage where you can send cold (call) messages to users I.e. someone at a company you want to get into.
Don't worry about it. As a fresher with an experience of one year the job market is plush with jobs for you. You will most likely end up with a nice salary bump and you even have a ready made excuse for the switch!

Sorry to hear about your situation. Start to leetcode to prepare.
So sorry to hear that. 1. Where are you at right now and are you able to relocate for your next job? Someone on Blind may be able to help refer you. 2. You mentioned not having any visa issues. Do you have greencard or a US citizenship? If yes, add that to your LinkedIn heading. Companies that don’t have the resources to deal with work visas may reach out to you. Cloud companies need software engineers that can get clearance to work on projects related to gov regions, so if you can get clearance, you are actually a preferred candidate.
Sorry to hear that but being in tech, you just leetcode and TC hop :)

Any pgm/tpgm 😬
Where from?
Wework for sure lol
Uber?
Do you have any VISA issues ?
No.
Update your resume, indeed, glassdoor. Start leetcode. If you haven't read "Cracking the coding interview", go through it. It is an amazing investment. Start applying to jobs in angellist, since big companies would have a freeze after Thanksgiving. After Feb, the market would be open again. There is a conference NSBE in March, you could attend that, probability of people getting jobs in that conference is high. I got fired from my first job too about a month back, for standing up to myself, I also have a fucking VISA issue to take care of. But keep at it man. Stay strong.
