Hi! I have an internship this summer in Redmond and I wanted to know what the commute is like from downtown Bellevue to Redmond (uber/connector). I’m looking at airbnb’s in Bellevue and Kirkland. Downtown Bellevue seemed like it would give me a balance of things to do/restaurants and being closer to Redmond than Cap Hill or UW district.
Will you be working at MS ? There are shuttles that go from bellevue transit center to MS Office, I believe (not 100% sure). So if you stay in Bellevue downtown, close to transit center, you should be good commute wise. Also, Bellevue Transit Center has direct busses to Seattle, airport, and UW. And Yes, Downtown Bellevue has more stuff to do compared to Kirkland. Also public transit it Kirkland is not that great.
There are these red line buses between Bellevue and Redmond. I’m not sure though if Bellevue downtown meets an intern’s expectations in terms of things to do ( I’m old ). Comparing it with my youth I feel it’s uptight shopping place for old rich people as opposed to Seattle which feels more lively ( but has its own problems like drugs and crime and homeless )
I appreciate your insight. I’m a bit of a non-traditional intern. I’m 29. I just need some decent food options, theaters etc. I’m not really a bar/club person.
You'll like Bellevue at 29. It's got a good vibe of cafes and eateries and things to do, minus any crazy night life. Try looking up B Line bus routes, they're very dependable and frequent (~one bus per 10 mins). If you stay near the B line routes you should be good traveling to Redmond. I used to use the app "one bus away" and it was great for updated bus timings. Besides that you'll likely have MSFT office shuttles that might be even better!
I commuted between downtown Bellevue and Redmond campus for a while. There is no connector, there is a shuttle, but that is going away by April. Because Microsoft is getting rid of their Bellevue offices. The public bus is super slow. 8 mins car ride vs 30 min bus. Downtown Bellevue is nice to live in, for your profile. Clean and safe. Lots of older people. Shopping mall and restaurants are walking distance. It’s a very upscale environment tho.

Kirkland yesterday, Bellevue today. Tomorrow you will be asking about mercer island. Why don't you just get a car and stay in redmond. Seattle's cool stuff (nature) requires a vehicle
Theres no need to be rude. I found an airbnb in Kirkland but a few people suggested I stay in Downtown Bellevue instead because there is more stuff to do. So I wanted to ask about the commute before I start looking into it. Also, I did look in Redmond, and the pickings are slim and very expensive on airbnb compared to bellevue and Kirkland. Decent Redmond airbnb’s are averaging almost 5k a month.
I don't mean to be rude. Apologies if it came off that way
