My friend joined Cognizant USA 6 months back and his project is ending mid February. How long will CTS give him to find a project? Will they pay him this while? Will CTS fire/ask him to resign after a few weeks? Thanks in advance.

It's 5 weeks after one is released to the corporate pool. The business unit may decide to keep the person unbilled on internal bench if they see any project coming up soon. It all depends on where the demand is and how much money they have in their wallet to keep the person unbilled. If your friend has common skills like Java then he/she should be able to find a project even while on corporate pool. People with experience on niche skill packages find it harder.
