This is great and something we can all get behind. Sanders 2020. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2018/09/05/bernie-sanders-introduces-stop-bezos-act-senate/
I honestly thought this would be a link to The Onion.
Ah, Bernie. A nutjob socialist who never worked a real job in his life.
Lol.
Did you just post to laugh at your own post?
I can get behind this. Why should they be able to pay low wages and taxpayers pick up the slack! However what this will do is incentivize them not to hire people who will go on foodstamps. Ie they will hire people with working spouses, etc instead of poor.
You know that the solution will be to lower tech t&c and redistribute right?
Only someone from sales can live in such imaginary world.
Is not it ironic that wp reports this.
Sounds reasonable to me.
Agreed. I’m not even a Bernie fan.
This is actually logical - except the name of the bill is misleading
It's more reasonable and logical to ban food stamps at all.
So that poor children who rely on them for survival will be malnourished/die, like in India? Great analytical thought.
Well we are still alive. Parents can't work for children's food?
In other news: Jeff Bezos announced he’s taking the company private. Let’s just end the subsidies. Companies will have no choice but to pay well then. Also massive tax break for workers. Win/win!
Day 1 after this act is accepted: Amazon fires all low wage employees. 5000 brand new contracting companies hire the employees and subcontract them to Amazon. Contracting companies are too small to be affected by this act. Day 2: Contracting companies drop all benefits and reduce wages, take bigger chunk for themselves. Day 3: employees screwed. Sanders still trying to figure out this whole capitalism thing. Cries loudly that he is not a queen of universe. Advocates for permanent revolution etc, see Trotsky.
Or day 1, Amazon lowers TC of high paid tech employees and redistribute the savings to the fulfillment division
That is unlikely on this job market. One can easily find unqualified labor. Dealing with even higher turnover rates of engineers is much harder, especially with immigration law under current scrutiny.
