Best Earbuds

Need good pair of earbuds for music, YouTube and taking calls. Using an iPhone and Mac. Noise canceling optional, but prioritizing sound quality and something which works best during calls and YouTube/movies. Which one should I get? AirPods Pro (2nd gen), AirPods 3rd gen or Bose QC2. TC: 500K

Sony WF-1000XM4

I thought they offered better noise cancelation, but not necessarily better sound for videos and calls. Correct me if I’m wrong and you’ve had a different personal experience with these.

They are better than Apple at every possible aspect

Apple mexicant_2 Oct 2, 2022

Obviously biased but if youre using apple products the airpods are great at transitioning between my iphone/mac/ipad when i need it. The airpods 3 dont fit my left ear and are always falling out of my ear if i start talking so I would highly recommend the pros

My original AirPods, which I’m replacing, were quite poor at switching between devices, but I’ve heard apple has improved on that. Not fitting well is definitely a 😮 AirPods first gen fit me pretty well. Are they any different?

Apple mexicant_2 Oct 2, 2022

Hmm that’s interesting. I would watch a video on my mac and if someone called me I would just pick up and they would switch instantly and when i was done right back to the video so im not sure. The 2nd gen pros are better overall but in terms of fit they also include a XS earbud size so if the first gen fit you you shouldnt really have an issue. The 3rd gen normal airpods were the ones people had problems with

the wonky looking surface buds are surprisingly good to use. they are the old style earbuds so sit outside the ear canal and don't hurt your ears and have pretty useful touch controls.

I’m always reluctant using non Bose or apple earphones on iOS devices. Apple devices work best with just these two companies over a longer period of time.

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay EQs or EXs for sure. Sound quality is superb and nails all other aspects of TWEBs

Lemme check them out. However I’m not sure how well they’d work with ios devices. I like how you can locate and quickly switch between iOS devices with the new AirPods and Bose has also been good that way.

Just my own opinion, but I use these all: ——- Work: Sony XM5 - best sound quality, light/comfortable for all day use. Works great for calls Workout: AirPod Max - nice noise canceling and headphone controls easiest to use away from my phone. Running: AirPod (3rd Gen) - earbuds, stays in and no noise canceling. I like to hear my surroundings while running. Travel: Bose 700 - best noise cancelling

Wow. You’ve quite a diverse collection. I love the XM4 and Bose QC headphones. I believe one can disable noise cancelling on the AirPod pros or have adaptive noise cancelling, so I was wondering if the pros would make a better purchase if I could use it both with and without noise cancelling

Amazon bgfikf Oct 2, 2022

I personally don’t like adaptive noice canceling and the plugging of the AirPod pros just don’t mesh well with my eye type I guess. I do have friends that absolutely love them, so totally personal preference - hope you get something you love!

MKDHB rated new airpods better than apple earphones for $500

Amazon Sm3llyF@rt OP Oct 2, 2022

I’d seen his review. I believe MKBHD was talking about the noise cancelling. That said I usually don’t pay too much attention to their positive reviews since they try and test it for 2-3 days before moving to the next big thing. I’d like to hear from folks who spend a lot of their hard earned money and use their devices everyday. I’ve been able to review hardware better after 2-3 months of rigorous use than my first impression with them.

I use some $20 Chinese cheap knockoffs. Happy with them, they are good not great. I can hear clearly, people can hear me clearly and I can hear my little one crying without ANC.

Amazon Sm3llyF@rt OP Oct 2, 2022

I used to never spend a lot of earphones, but then changed my mind when I bought my first wireless headset from Bose. The lack of noise, superior sound and expert noise cancelation just blew my mind. Also the Bose, shure and bower Wilkins headsets I bought over the years have lasted almost a decade. If you need wireless headsets or earphones you need to spend $150-600 on a real good pair. You won’t regret it, especially if you use them a lot.

Thanks @amazon. I've listened to headphones from B&W, Sony, AT in my friends home, gotta say it's amazing the least. But I'm just not that into special audio. A cheap knockoff works for me. My kid will break anything and probably even put it in water or gravy or anything.

My airpod pros are always falling out of my ears does anyone have a suggestion for maybe there's a replacement tip for them or something?

The Bose QC IIs are by far the best noise canceling earbuds on the market. They do lack the fair pair tech you get with AirPods but boy do they cancel out the world.
