I've heard some good things about Google / Apple as very amazing retirement companies. They don't have an ageism factor as long as you're performing well. What are your thoughts? Which company do you recommend as being your "last" job? TC: 35 Lakhs YOE: 3
Microsoft. Best benefits in industry and very good job security. If you're 64± it cna be a terminal level and good place to retire
As a former Softee, I’d say this isn’t true across the board. In the big lay-off of summer 2014, saw 70% of my team cut. I would say about 90% were in their late 40s/early 50s.
Was that engineering layoffs?
why would you be factoring retiring with 3 YOE?
I agree too early to think that
I'm not really factoring this in. Just as a back-of-the-mind thought to plan ahead of my final Chess move :) I'm joining Google now, and contemplating the thought of staying there for a LOOOOOOONG time, provided things go well.
Any company not known to pip high percentage of their employees. Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn.
Apple. Pip is very very rare.
Would you happen to know how rare in terms of percentages?
In my 6 years of tenure, I saw only 1 but it was 100% justifiable.
I can’t speak for Google, as I know only two people who work there and they’re younger than me. However, I have many former colleagues in their 50s - and some in their early 60s - who are absolutely thriving at Amazon. And these are people who no longer need to work - as they’re flush with retirement money, so that tells you something.
