I have used Credit Karma for the last 2-3 years to do my tax returns, but they got bought by Intuit I believe, so I don't see them having the "Free" tax software anymore. Any recommendations? I have 3 different stock accounts, have a home, no dependents (basically a single tech boi). #finance
Not free: TurboTax may suck for their business practices (pricing, lobbying against free tax return options, etc.) but the software is decent. I use the desktop version, don’t know what the cloud service is like. Easy import of your trades from mainstream brokers should make taxes pretty easy in your case.
Freetaxusa.com is a good alternative
I prefer this, boycotting turbotax, because fuck Intuit
I like h&r block <- not free but I think cheaper that turbo tax
Credit Karma tax is still available. It’s owned by Square. You can keep filing this year I think......
I just hope it's still free :c
It should be ..... Intuit doesn’t own CK Tax. I’m not sure if Square will add a fee on it, though I’m doubtful
H&R block
Turbotax. Yeah, I know it sucks. But they are a monopolist and have been lobbying for decades. There are no better alternatives. Different states have been trying to reform their tax softwares to make it easier for taxpayers to file their taxes and every time they were blocked by intuit. Imo Intuit belongs to the list of most evil companies next to facebook. F them.
🙂. People in glass house should throw rocks at other houses.
FB is an entirely different level of societal harm vs. Intuit 😂 Also, there are lots of alternatives, I wouldn’t call them a monopolist. Kind of rich coming from the company that’s trying to choke Slack, AWS, Google Docs, etc. with all the enterprise bundling y’all are doing. Not to mention the sins of the past ...
