Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations for US credit card which works well for light travel. The typical travel would be round trip between India - US twice a year and one domestic vacation. I saw Chase sapphire (95$ annual fee) and discover miles it(no annual fee) to be predominant in the reviews. Are there any other cards which are better than these 2 for the above mentioned travels? Would be nice to have TSA Precheck included #travel #chase #discover # credit card #vacation
Amex platinum or the chase sapphire reserve .
700$ worth for light travel?
Amex lounges are worth it with the clear pass , $200 fine hotel credit and few other regular offers you will be able to recoup at least the annual fee. Add the intro bonus on platinum you should be able to cover at least two years worth of af cost Like someone said before I use amex mostly for the lounges, and credit and am able to at least break even. Use sapphire for regular purchases as it easier to accumulate points .
Can you not research yourself of ThePointsGuy or Doctor of Credit? How lazy can you be; thought msft was the chill lazy company…
Technically everything can be researched. Then why even need discussion forums ? Op is just asking an opinion don’t have don’t give .
I did my initial research with which I came up with 2 options, I'm asking fellow peeps for other recommendations @suk
Get Sapphire preferred, 100k joining points, then after 1 year upgrade to Sapphire Reserve and use those points @1.5c/pt. DM for a referral!
Credit card has referrals? OMG 🙈
Haha I mean why not! https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/21Q3/sapphire/duallp?CELL=6RRW&jp_cmp=cc/Sapphire+Preferred_Brand_Exact_Sapphire+Preferred_SEM_US_NA_Standard_NA/sea/p56274819636/Chase+Sapphire+Preferred&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1253080&gclid=CjwKCAjw7fuJBhBdEiwA2lLMYeQywNdGDHp96LRaYtxZn_zet3XrdWMl4CXzZsWnFDv6ByduxvvYzBoCNdUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds This page shows why it’s better to get Preferred first and then upgrade to Reserve. Coz if you get Reserve directly, you only get 60k pts.
I mostly care about access to nice airport lounges so Amex Platinum is my choice. Chase Sapphire Reserve will get you more points though, but airport lounge access sucks.
Amex Platinum is the best, but Chase Sapphire Reserve is nearly as good and cheaper. Depends on what matters to you, pre-pandemic I was traveling 7mo out of the year and have both cards. People are religious about this stuff, but I will tell you when the shit hits the fan only Amex has ever had my back. When traveling there’s real problems (existential issues) and there’s Amex solvable problems.
Your current Travel Card ll GTFO
Amex Platinum and/or US Bank Altitude Reserve. Platinum for the perks and Altitude Reserve for the 3x points on all mobile pay which can be redeemed at 4.5x for travel purchases.
Sapphire is king for leisure travelers
With flight spending around 2.5 per year and grocery, gas and rare dining is the 95$ recoupable? And this doesn't have TSA precheck. That's the only concern.
