I want to buy a new car with a $100k budget (somewhat flexible), preferably an EV. What would you recommend and why? I am considering Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, and Mercedes-Benz EQS but I am open to other options. Leaning towards Tesla so far because it's the fastest with the highest range, Autopilot and they don't nickel and dime for options. Plus it has the best resale value, used Teslas are selling for more than the price of new. Underwhelmed by its quality & materials though. #cars #ev #tesla #porsche #taycan #mercedesbenz #finance #money
Plaid Model S
Lots in inventory
Keep in mind brakes on Tesla are utter garbage.
Not on the plaids - on the regular ones completely agree
Not on the plaids? The brakes on the Plaid are especially trash considering the acceleration. You must absolutely install an after market set of brakes
Have you test driven them? I haven't tried EQS but Taycan is miles ahead compared to Model S when it comes to driving experience, something people who use spreadsheets to compare cars will never understand. With that being said, $100k is a little bit awkward for a new Taycan, as I'd suggest avoid getting the base model and at least getting a 4S.
I drove both Model S & Taycan. Taycan felt a little underwhelming after driving Model S. I enjoyed driving the Base Taycan more than the 4S. Taycan has better handling and dynamics but the thrill of Model S launch with 0-60 in 3.1 secs is pure joy. I love the how Taycan looks and I always wanted to buy a Porsche growing up, but I hate being nickel and dimed for every single tiny options on the car.
TC & yoe?
Lotus Emira.. might have gotten carried away.. oh well
Unless ur tesla fanboy don't buy it because it's shit quality. Someone who has enough taste to buy merc will not like the cheapness imo.
I have owned Tesla, BMW & Mercedes in the 60k price range in the past and there wasnât much difference in quality. Having buttons everywhere doesnât make it higher quality. The difference in quality is more noticeable in a Model S and Mercedes S Class but Tesla is superior in other ways. Autopilot reduces my driving effort by 80%, I think thatâs luxury not the chrome vents.

In my opinion if you want an EV go with Tesla for itâs range and supercharger network otherwise a taycan is the next runner up but I donât know if itâs comfortable as a daily driver. If EV is not a requirement I like the M series BMWs or if you want something more reliable look at f sport lexuses
Also, EQS isnât all that attractive and very basic looking
