Considering the standard of living, QoL,salaries in tech, savings possible, taxes cut, and overall growth career wise. I’m considering moving to EU or UK from India in the near future. I would like to get an idea so that I can prepare and apply accordingly. Would really appreciate some suggestion. Please mention the reason in the comments. #europe #uk #london #facebook #apple #google #amazon #twitter #booking #databricks #bloomberg #yelp #reddit #disney #stripe #uber #datadog #revolut #deliveryhero #olx #bmw
You’re missing Zurich in the poll. Also you don’t mention what is the most important to you. London by far has the best options and really good salaries (second only to Zurich). Taxes suck, though. QoL will be whatever you make of it. You can save a lot if you’re ok with living in the suburbs and/or having roommates.
Yes, actually I don’t have much idea about the opportunities in Zurich other than Google. What matters to me the most is the QoL, good salary, and career opportunities. In addition, I’m interested in permanent residency in the long run. I don’t mind staying in the suburbs and taking public transport.
What is the tax rate in London and Zurich?
To each their own. Personally, I don’t mind the rain and the cold weather. :)
Amsterdam has 30% ruling ie 30% salary is non taxable for 5 years if you are expact
Yes, I’ve read that. This is definitely a good advantage.
And no tax on capital gains / wealth while you have 30% ruling.
London has the best choice of restaurants and a massive Indian contingent from the 1st generation immigrants so there’s shit loads of incredidible Indian restaurants and culture so that might make you feel more at home. I live in Amsterdam and it has by far the best quality of work-life balance as compared to London or any other major capital because it is so small you can get anywhere by bike in 20minutes and the culture is relaxed and slow. But I hear from Indians here that they struggle to find good food and find it a bit quiet here. London is more vibrant and more choice of culture etc. The tax in UK is similar to what it is in NL during the 30% ruling. So UK better long term. Personally I love the pace of life in Amsterdam but it’s not everyone’s pref and I miss the food and music culture of the UK.
There is tons of racism in Netherlands
Amsterdam has just booking.com and very few top tech employers. London has plethora of good employers. London it is! Namastey London!
Lets not forget Berlin. Startup hub of the biggest economy in EU.
London is more sportive than Amsterdam if you are desi guy into cricket/tennis/football.. in a different continent, things you are close to in India matter a lot and food is definitely one of them. These things are important especially if you are moving out of India for the first time..
Dublin is the worst, for sure.
