Let's say somebody has accumulated a large enough portfolio that they no longer need to work hard or increase their TC, just coast for another 5-10 years into early retirement. WLB is much, much more important than TC, prestige, growth, or anything else. Where in Seattle do you go and how much can you make? Assume l64 at Microsoft. Doesn't have to be a tech company.
Aren’t you already in the country club?
Amazon
Oracle is pretty easy. Not sure about the Seattle office. Remote is a cake walk though.
Early retirement and only an L64? Did you do some amazing stock/crypto/real estate moves?
I am l67, I just said assume l64-level work because it will be easier. But also yes, my investments have done well.
Out of curiosity, if you were not to 'retire', how would your prospects look for reaching Partner?
Salesforce, the Bellevue office is a peaceful, quiet low stress ghost town
I have heard that. I'll apply
Boeing for sure too
Find a team that doesn’t have good business eg) MSIT, or teams that serve unpopular service with very few users. Windows and Office are popular. MSR as well. Or Seattle childrens, Swedish, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Disney(hire very few though), Boeing(they mostly contract to Indian consulting firm though).
Are you saying that people in MSR are not hard working? They are way more than product groups. I have worked in both and the MSR stress levels are much higher.
Working 30 or less than 30 is normal in M and FAANG?
No

I think USA will go bankrupt. What should one do?
Microsoft already
No way, I have to put in at least 30 hours here
Then you're in the wrong team. Just find another one. I used to do 2 hours a week. Did that for a full year. Just left Microsoft recently though.
