What are some of the more cool uses of AI in the consumer world? A friend of mine has a "smart" thermostat that adjusts automatically on time of day , humidity, etc. that's about as much as I've seen...
Self driving cars in the future, smart home automation turn on sprinkler and open close blinds. play music when you are home. I think the possibilities are limitless.
Alexa, buy paper towels. In 2 days you get paper towels
Alexa, buy Amazon Echo from Prime Now. In 2 hours you have 2 AIs in you house.
Does that come with prime?
I find Alexa wakes up at the strangest times. Cortana does nothing but run a bing search
Siri always gets my requests screwed up
Amazon is not an Apple. they don't try to anticipate the future needs of customers. what we do is ask customers what they want and build it. it may not be as inspired , but people get what they want sooner. if you want to work on AGI, then go to Google
Alexa loves to order stuff, even when I'm chatting with my daughter about non commercial stuff. Love it's ability to cancel
Driving directions via Google Maps, Waze, etc. might not think of it as AI per se but I would argue it is. Calculating an optimal route, taking into account traffic conditions, historic patterns, etc. sounds like AI to me.
A drone which follows its master, like a dog, on morning runs.
there aren't any. this tech has been around for 15 years and nobody has built the killer App
Google photos?
I ask Alexa to read my audible books for me, translate Spanish words, and tell me motivational quoted when I'm feeling down. it's nice.
