I currently live in Seattle. My wife doesn’t speak English very well so she wants to improve by maybe attending classes or courses. I guess we have several options. First option is to attend like an English academy like Kaplan in Seattle. Another option is to sign up for ESL courses at Bellevue college or similar. Last option is maybe taking free English learning programs at Seattle pubic library, but that doesn’t seem like structured very well (maybe cuz it’s free…). What’s the best option possible among these? Other than that, if there’s a better option, please leave it at the comment. It’d be super appreciated 🥰 Happy upcoming holidays!
Get her a couple of books that explain basics of grammar and let her volunteer and practice language on the fly. Much better way to learn than taking any course!
Coursera
Does she know Hindi?
In addition to classes, move to an English speaking neighborhood. If all your friends are from your native country, she will have much harder time practicing English and frequent practice is essential.
Duolingo?
Converse with the local vagrants and absorb their street lingo
Do ESL at local community college. They are good schools, especially for adult continuing education situations like yours.
I would say Bellevue college. My wife took a course at UW in 2019 but it’s gone now but the structure of the class helped her
Would you mind if I ask how much was the tuition for the ESL courses at UW? Assuming it’d be similar at Bellevue college.
I think it was like 6k for a quarter. Bellevue college should be cheaper since it is a cc
