I think this is important enough for its own post. Somebody recorded the zoom call with the CEO of Better telling affected people they got laid off. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7GVklRqHRY For all you Better folks who got affected. I’m really sorry this had to happen and just know everyone here on Blind is here to support you with referrals and any help you need. #bettermortgage
Damn I've been in this type of call before. CEO furloughed 2/3 of the company. It was rough. For those impacted: keep your head up - better things are in your future.
better is in their past.
Wow… why before holidays?
To fk up their holidays 🥲. These all are bunch of 🤡 running these companies.
I mean will they feel better if they get laid off after the holiday? I don’t think so. There’s no good time to deliver terrible news like this
Their computers were also all shut off after the meeting. Ridiculous
So did the HR email go to their personal email? Craziness.
It did, yeah. So callous. Plus per an article I read, a lot of people’s laptops shut off before the meeting ended, leaving them confused and anxious.
imagine those people a few months ago thinking they would be millionaires because people in blind told them to join but ended up in this call
Exactly what I was thinking
Blind is pretty blind to these things. It’s promotes greed and immaturity.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/softbank-backed-startup-bettercom-fires-900-in-brutal-cleansing CEO's "bonus check last year, paid entirely in cash, clocked in at $25 million."
It was $30M not $25M
what a twat
Threatened to burn partner alive. Got 750 mi and lay off people right after. SoftBank strikes again? another Hulu WeWork documentary?
We Better Work Hulu
I have emails from 3 recruiting emails from November and one yesterday. For roles at better…. glad i never responded…
Didn’t they had a layoff done months back too? Also, What’s happening in the real estate market? Zillow too
Real estate tech companies tried to grow too big too fast and got hurt
Refi volume is falling and across the board predictions are for 15-18% drop in overall loans in 2022 less loans you need less loan officers. More will be let go at other places but in smaller numbers as lenders hired like crazy to meet pandemic demand which doubled their work.
