Biden's immigration policy with regards to employment based visas and greencards
Grow our economy. This bill clears employment-based visa backlogs, recaptures unused visas, reduces lengthy wait times, and eliminates per-country visa caps. The bill makes it easier for graduates of U.S. universities with advanced STEM degrees to stay in the United States; improves access to green cards for workers in lower-wage sectors; and eliminates other unnecessary hurdles for employment-based green cards. The bill provides dependents of H-1B visa holders work authorization, and children are prevented from “aging out” of the system. The bill also creates a pilot program to stimulate regional economic development, gives DHS the authority to adjust green cards based on macroeconomic conditions, and incentivizes higher wages for non-immigrant, high-skilled visas to prevent unfair competition with American workers. It'll never pass Senate. Blanket amnesty to illegal immigrants will never fly with Republicans. They won't oppose legal immigration. We are fucked because Democrats will never pass legal immigration reform unless it is clubbed with blanket amnesty to illegals.
Hold your horses. The bill is NOT passing. Nil chance.
Personally it doesn't affect me. I been through the whole process right through to citizenship. Just posted it to make others aware what is in the bill (which apparently is called the US Citizenship Act of 2021).
I appreciate you putting a nice comprehensive summary. I was only pointing out about its chances. All of these things are great and make sense to do. But the ground reality is that it will never become a law, which is quite sad.
