Can’t reveal my source but Amazon senior leadership is doing a through strategic analysis of different business. The goal is to narrow the long term focus and cut the number of businesses that are losing money or have a huge cost overhead. Please heart this thread if you want me to keep providing updates. Most importantly, life will be OK. Everything works out in the end. Don’t live everyday worrying about things you can’t control. Please focus on your savings and building a rainy day fund. Edit: Please feel free to use this thread to get referrals if laid off and seek advise. Didn’t imagine this thread would get so many views. Blind fam takes care of each other. #tech #Amazon #layoffs #RIF Update 1: Numbers are being crunched and targets are getting passed down now. Some projects and products will be cut completely. For others there are targets to reduce expenses. Update 2: Communications and more details coming this week. Things are finalized for the most part. Update 3: The whole process is not going to be a flip of a switch. It will draw out over months into 2023 with each division making their own adjustments based on reduction targets. Personal opinion: This is bad for morale. Rip the bandaid and be done with it. Hard to work with a sword hanging over your head. Update 4: 10K is just guidance and only counting FTEs. Real number when accounting for PIP, buyouts, forced exits will be much higher. Vendor reductions will be higher than FTE reductions but hard to get an accurate estimate. Update 5: Next update around mid-Jan. Enjoy the holidays with your family! Update 6: Looks Amazon just confirmed my update #4 from a month ago. Still planning to wait till mid Jan to provide more info because there’s lots of moving parts. Things are so bad that Bezos will probably return as CEO to steady the ship. Update 7: Please see my latest update in the comments. A lot of my posts are getting mass HR flagged over the last few days. Please save the screenshots and share if this gets taken down. Remember, as long as I have my account I will post under the same handle. Update 8: Personal take: Jeff Bezos will likely be back as CEO to steady the ship this year since he will likely sell off Washington Post. Not really an update since I already mentioned in comments below but a couple of folks asked to move it up here. Been a pleasure serving my fellow humans. Sorry to all the folks who spent days feeling anxious about layoffs. Don’t live life fearing what hasn’t happened yet. The time to live, feel, love, and truly exist is today. Tomorrow only exists in our dreams and hopes. 🫡 Update 9 [Feb 26, 2023] One small update. This whole “It would be easier for employees to collaborate and invent together in person and that in-person work would strengthen the company's culture.” is just hogwash per some of my sources. The reason it was announced with such a short notice before returning to RTO is to force more voluntary departures to reduce expenses and head count further. It would have negligible impact on long term “strengthening company culture” if this was effective starting Jan 2024 instead of May 1st 2023. Families can’t just move on such short notice.
Zoox will be cut?

Amazon does lay offs every quarter what's new
This time is it worse. Way worse. Or maybe not. Amazon folks are possibly used to the abuse and disrespect, which is unfortunate. The layoffs may not seem as disastrous.
The source is called Wall Street journal (meta’s internal communication system)
I knew this before WSJ reported from a source who’s a VP. Big layoffs are set to happen Dec/Jan especially in orgs that are loss making and/or support orgs. Amazon plans to be more lean from headcount in non-core orgs.
Which orgs are considered core?
Source: WSJ
It leaked already?
A renamed PIP?
Can confirm. My dogs walkers boyfriends walkers dog works in the dog park and he barked the same.

If Amazon does layoffs, thats it. No one is safe
Bsht comment of the year. As if everyone is having amazon parcels in their lunch everyday
What's so special about Amazon? They were hiring like crazy so layoff is understandable in that regards
