Anyone from blend labs who can tell me how they are in terms of: 1. Compensation 2. Engineering #engineering #software #swe Culture 3. WLB 4. Interview process Recruiter told me they they follow Netflix comp model. Customizing their comp structure (full cash or cash and equity). Is this true?
1. Compensation is market rates, and under the new system, I think you can get all cash (that's what they're calling "the Netflix model") 2. Engineering culture is bad. Even worse is that it seems to be intentional (leadership openly stating they don't want engineers to ever 'feel 100% comfortable / secure in their jobs', that there are 'dumb questions and engineers shouldn't feel like they can ask just anything in dev channels', and constant pressure for engineers to provide more aggressive estimates than they feel is accurate, because 'we want you to stretch yourself - you need to WANT to grow'). It's by far the worst part about working here. 3. WLB depends on the team, but in general, there's pressure from leadership, all the way down to the EM level to get more out of teams and set more aggressive timelines. 4. Interview process is pretty standard in the tech industry for the roles we're hiring for. As things currently stand, I can't recommend joining here.
Thanks for the reply. Just weighing out if it’s good for someone with two small kids. This helps a lot

If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
Do you know if their comp is competitive? I spoke to a 3rd party recruiter and was told they cannot go over 400k in total comp for staff engineers.
I was told 350k to 400k for ic4, which I guess is one level below staff. But I’m more concerned about culture , wlb etc
