Assume that hero: TC - monotonically increasing, starts at 90k (5 years ago) and is 250k today (madness numbers) Loans: Graduated school with $50k in debt COLA - Bay Area Relationship status - Single Wants to buy a house - $1MM How much money has hero saved towards $200k down payment? Edit: changed madness number to $250k
Who tf is hero?
Just played 1/3 today lol love to see the terminology
When you know, you know. :)
I’m similar to profile as hero with lower TC/yoe. I have 400k in assets but includes 401k and HSA. I made around 100k from crypto but other than that mostly index funds
Good for you. Home owner? Did you get help with your student loans?
I have a house with about 120k equity but didn’t include that in the 400k figure. I graduated with a few tens of thousands in student loans and paid it off myself
I don't know why but my mind went straight to My Hero Academia.
DM me hero’s answer
Hero is a fictitious character, I know a few people in similar positions and can say outcomes are YMMV, some never made it to the $350k TC. Many people don't have $200k to their name, one guy invested in Crypto and saw $5MM and will not buy a house. I think that outcomes were rather predictable based on their personalities in hindsight. The ones that 'saved' and 'lived frugally' would have about $100k-$200k saved. The ones that had crazy investments mostly did pretty well. Note: I am biased, I probably hung out with a 'certain crowd' and the outcomes may not be typical. (Survivors bias)
