Hello! I’m expecting an offer from Blizzard for a manager role (non-technical, not a game team) and was curious what to expect in terms of compensation outside of base salary. I know the median salary for this role is ~160k but wondering if there might be a signing bonus or any kind of stock included. Any insight into how to approach negotiating this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!#gaming Current TC: 115k + 10% bonus. 10 YOE, 3 as a manager.
I’m in the same boat but for a different position at Activision Blizzard.
I’ll DM you what I learn
How much equity did you get? Does Blizzard provide large equity grants?
Nope. Most roles don’t get them. And when they are offered, the grants are 🥜

$160k base seems high to me (source: am a non-tech manager as well) but when you receive the offer, ask for a weekend to talk it over with your partner (even if you're single, shift the concept of the decision maker to someone else). After the weekend, say plainly that if they can increase the offer by ~8% (around $10k) then you will be convinced to sign. Signing bonuses are out of style from what I've seen, only about 1/10 will agree to it, but you can likely negotiate equity and especially paid time off. Good luck!
Thanks for the insight! I guess it’s kind of technical but not an engineering manager position. More like marketing tech implementation. And to clarify, 160k was they said was the “median” for the position. I dunno what they’re basing that on because I don’t think anyone else will have this title. I’m expecting them to come back with 140-150k maybe. Will respond when I get the offer.
