Block youtube ads on iOS and android tv?

Youtube has started showing ridiculous amount of ads recently, and 2 ads back-to-back at that. Is there anyway to block ads on iOS and android tv, other than paying for premium? Apparently, there is this app for androidtv (SmartTubeNext on github) with 6K stars, but the dev is russian (or has russian name). Anyone tried it? #youtube #adblock #ads

I’ve been saying this for years now but YES - YouTube premium is the best thing I pay for each month. You see NO ads on any of the apps and it’s glorious. So so so so much better. Other than that you’re out of luck.

I thought it would be good. Did the trial. It was. But it’s also $12/month… It’s priced like a premium streaming service and you can’t even share your account with people since it’s ultra-curated content and sharing would kill your suggestions.

Yeah it definitely depends on what that $12 a month is worth to you. For me it’s completely worth it

Personally, I pay 25 a year for AppValley VIP. I get YT prem for free and spotify prem for free. There are other cracked games and apps on there but they don’t really appeal to me. For legal reasons, this is a joke!

Use the iOS browser with Adblock. There’s no way to block ads in the ads unless you jailbreak

For Android phones, you can just get .apk files with cracked spotify and youtube. They are usually labeled as ++ at the end of the apps

Mozilla supports extensions on phones. Install ublock

There are plenty open source alternative clients with their code on GitHub. I use them on my phone and tv, never got an ad and they even let you automatically skip ads/promotional parts within the video. Search through Reddit for reviews if you aren't sure about a specific one.

which one would you recommend for iPhone?

Dude buy YouTube premium using Argentina or India VPN. It costs $1/mo for solo plan and as low as $0.3/mo for family plan. Look up tutorial on the web and just do it already. Lifesaver.

Interesting, doesn't Google detect that I'm mainly using it from US and then cancel the membership? Any downsides to using to buying it from Argentina e.g. some missing premium features?

Microsoft nfs-undgnd Jul 14, 2022

No downside. It’s the same service. Google doesn’t detect after you have membership. But to get the sign up page and pay in Argentina currency you need VPN. After you have your account activated you never need the VPN. The only thing to note is Argentina charges 30-40% USD conversion fee I think so maybe monthly cost might come to $1.2 lol instead of $.95. Family plan is $0.3/mo/person so that may become $0.5 with all the fees involved. 😁

I use the Brave browser on my phone and use YouTube in the browser. Haven’t seen an ad in forever. I deleted the YouTube app.
