Should I jump from Bloomberg to Meta? Passed interviews for E4 last week, though still waiting for team match. Told recruiter I'm NYC only. Current team in BBG is nice. Friendly TL. Good wlb of ~30 hrs a week and no fear of layoffs.. but RTO and commute sucks due to office location. Meta NYC office locations offer much better commute and looking forward to the free food and pay bump, but worried about PSC and stressful WLB. Assuming Meta offer is around 280-300k (idk what's realistic), is it worth to make the jump? Edit: Forgot to mention that salary growth is a factor that I want aa well (going from E4 to E5 and the much higher pay coming with it) Current tc: 230 3.5 YoE
You sell your soul when you go to Facebook
Unlike the advice you hear from Amazonians, Meta is a great compact to work for if you are optimizing for learning, career growth (at Meta or outside), and TC. It is harder to get to Meta than Bloomberg. Give it a try, if u donot like it, u can always switch in the future.
As someone at Meta, definitely stay at Bloomberg unless you want to become depressed and suicidal
E4 can reach 350k, but it is very hard to get a team match at nyc especially for e4
Stay at Bloomberg
Stay until e5 level
Wait until you can join as E5. You get paid way more than E4->E5 promo, and signing stock can be huge too
how long did it take for you to hear back after onsite?
Around a week
Hard to say. It depends where you land at Meta. But, E4 can be a bit stressing as you have to promote to E5 within a certain amount of time. I'd wait one more year, and join as an E5. Or, join only if the comp is good (at least 100k) more than you have right now.
Not worth it, unless you hate yourself.
