Hey Blinders, Can anyone help me with how the Bloomberg AI - NLP Research Scientist interview process looks like. Would also appreciate insights into the type of questions asked - LC/NLP/ML/behavioral. YOE: 2 years TC: š„
In general the questions aren't LCish but very practical. Their style is to start something easy and make you write the solution and then they raise the bar by adding/removing a constraint and then make you change the code on the fly and then again. So if you have a half baked solution in step 1, you won't be able to find a solution to step 2 easily. As far as ML/NLP is concerned, they test the core fundamentals and give case studies.
Nice explanation. Any examples to practice?
I'm pretty confident in my ML/NLP fundamentals, but I'm not very sure whether I'd be able to crack medium-hard LC style questions. As you said that the questions aren't exactly LCish, any ideas on how I should prep for the same?
To be honest, I don't know where one could find those examples. Maybe try Glassdoor or Google for questions. To me it felt like they abstracted away all the business details of actual problems they are working on and gave the core issues they face to code, like handling streaming data with window based algorithms and so on. It felt so satisfying after the interview. I might be wrong, but if you have been coding for a few years and understand the fundamentals of basic coding, you won't need to practice. It will all come out naturally. Having said that, check out their top LC tagged questions. The closest question is that ticketing one where they want to keep track of people traveling in the subway system. Most questions kind of felt like that one to me. It should be in their top 10.
Arenāt you gonna ask people how much comp to expect if you clear interviews?
