Anyone at Bloomberg have information on the new hire training for senior engineers? Wondering what topics they cover, how long is it, and is it useful? Thank you
I am also looking for the same info :). Thanks for posting.
Let me know if you find anything! I’ll do so as well!
Sure.
few weeks, basics
Is the training whole day? Or only few hours in a day?
whole days
For seniors 3 week of training. Focus more on internal architecture working with dockers and how to to develop locally. Then working with python. BBG has its own UI creation tool. Training is easy and you should be able to follow.
Thanks! Is python team specific or everyone does it? Like if your team does C++, you have that training instead?
It’s generic and very basic. Everyone does it.
When i took SNHT air was a two week course. Covers the Bloomberg ecosystem using c++, python, JavaScript. You can take further course like c++ for experienced engineers which will go more in depth. There are also a variety of optional courses you can schedule at your leisure, stuff like unit testing frameworks, how to handle system outages, etc.
Cool, thank you for the response!
I don’t know what others are talking about but i felt the training was extremely hectic. 15 days of continuous trainings and was quite verbose too. The only relief was the lab part where you can work along with group. Lot of topics covered everyday for 15 days can definitely fry your brain.
That’s odd, when did you have your training and what topics were covered?
it was 2 week long. It covers basics of creating and deploying front end app ,services, architecture, with python and Bloomberg in-house technologies BAS, DMP and combdb2. Then you can also take c++ training for experience programmers and so on
Typical blind idiot
