Hello, Wondering what sort of resume screens my Bloomberg friends were able to get past? Particularly for FAANG, HFT’s, and Unicorns? Any recruiters reach out to you via LinkedIn or email? Had a pretty trash cycle last year (probably got resume rejected by like 95% of companies) so trying to see if it’ll be any better after some work experience at Bloomberg. I’ll be aiming to join some sort of low latency trading infra team. Also, I graduated from a T25 school with a math degree and I have 2 projects on my resume, but I’d say both are pretty mediocre, nothing special but also not terrible lol. I can explain both projects well if asked about them. As a bonus question…has anyone here done anything that helped you get past a lot more resume screens than before?? Thanks in advance!
I’ve had recruiters reach out to me from FAANG even before I had Bloomberg on my resume. At tier 5 companies, your resume is probably 🗑. I’ve had every FAANG except Apple and Netflix reach out to me. You should have someone review your resume.
Yeah, I’ll definitely get my resume reviewed in a year or so. I’m still a new grad and I don’t have any internships so maybe that’s why I got resume rejected so much.
Ohh maybe because you don’t have much yoe, I’m senior. That could be the reason, but still get your resume reviewed. A recruiter reviewer mine when I was younger; and told me your resume should just showcase what you are without any doubt. I told her I was a react guy, and she literally told me in every bullet point write react. So it’s obvious you are a react guy and not a master of none. Helped me A LOT.
I’ve had interest from Jump, Citadel, Tower Research, CTC but they didn’t follow through because of my visa status. Facebook, Amazon, Google and a bunch of startup’s and other smaller finance/trading shops were also interested. A lot of people who join as new grads leave at the 2 year mark to these places.
I was able to get interviews or recruiter reach outs for Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, and few HFTs. Struggling with some of the smaller tech companies, but I also don't have a CS background
Any? Never had an issue with my resume being the bottle neck, just my laziness to LC and my fear of unicorns
I went to Google (NYC) from Bloomberg. A pretty common transition.
Yeah I’ve heard this as well, thanks for sharing!
