In the past few years, Bloomberg was really low in priority and no good engineer apply there, as a result they have recruited bunch of sub par engineers from tier 4, 5 companies. Now there are thousands of laid-off tech workers from top companies in the market and they are dying to join a safe company like Bloomberg. However, there is very limited headcount left as the sub par engineers will just coast and will never leave. Should they increase the PIP quota in Bloomberg to leave more room for talented laid off employees from FAANG and other companies to join? Maybe fire all the coasters and replace them with laid off FAANG engineers? This is one in a life time event for a low tier company like Bloomberg to attract the best talents! EDIT: No I am not applying for Bloomberg, I already started at Bloomberg and see so many engineers coasting here, some are really low in skills compared to other Tech workers, I would prefer to have better colleagues to join and replace those coasters, some people work only 2-3 hours a week and complaint that they do not have enough people for the project. It is insane here! #bloomberg
The arrogance you show in this post is admirable
Delusional. You could swap all of Google engineers with all of Bloomberg engineers and Google would still be Google and Bloomberg would still be Bloomberg. So. No point
These so called top tier engineers will show no loyalty and will move in as soon as faang starts hiring again. Meanwhile, you will be getting rid of people who might be loyal.
Bloomberg highly values loyalty.
Hmm.. nice to see people like you getting booted. đŽâđ¨
LOL. 1) there are plenty of good engineers at Bloomberg 2) just working at a FAANG definitely doesnât make you a good engineer 3) FAANG engineers often have no understanding of financials and the commerciality of it all (if theyâve not worked in finance) and 4) loyalty and humility are still highly desired traits, none of which have been expressed here. Nice try.
No that is not true, I joined them for a few weeks now and there are many people just coasting, working 2-3 hours a week and always slow in respond to anything, I would prefer to have smarter colleagues with good work ethics
Op - humility is also a good trait to have (good work ethics)
Dude life will give you some good lessons very soon. Hope youâre ready
I think lesson is already given, op seems to be laid off, that entitlement tho!
Damn! Looks like its hard to fix the attitudes no matter what situation they are in. When would these folks get off high horse?
+1 Good luck OP! People normally donât reach very far with such mindset. If they do reach at the top, they tend to spread toxicity in the culture.
OP with co-workers like you who needs a pip. Your toxicity is enough to have ppl leave.
Sorry to say thatâs not how it works
