I'm deciding between the following two internship offers. Robinhood: Backend SWE Intern (Menlo Park / NYC) Bloomberg: SWE Intern (NYC) Background: - I'm a junior right now, and I'm planning to graduate with undergraduate degree in Jun 2025 and master's degree in Mar 2026 or Jun 2026. - International student - Hope to get a full-time offer (if the company is fine to have me in Mar 2026 rather than Jun 2025) or help with getting full-timer offer somehow - Location and internship compensation is not a big concern. (Not sure about the difference for full-time compensation/benefit) - Plan to work in the US for 2-3 years and move abroad (Not sure if the two companies are significantly different in terms of global mobility) - I am also interested in quant trading if that could be a factor. Any advice/info will be greatly appreciated!
I am not certain Robinhood will even be around in 2025 so go with the trusted Bloomberg name
They have almost 7bn in cash thats making 350m a yr in interest. It would take a fuck up of unimaginable proportions for them to go bust in the next 5 yrs.
V and B are still in charge, they’ll find a way!
BB if you are interested in quant
I don't feel we are doing anything really specific to quat stuff in most teams , try out a trading team or c++ heavy team to get some c++ experience
Vote for Bloomberg if you want to do quant in the future.
Can you elaborate about in what way BB could prepare me for quant? Is it more through workshops or do we directly learn through work?
I remember for BB internship you can choose the team you want to work with. So it’s better than doing backend development at Robinhood in terms of preparing you for quant.
