Got an offer from Boeing St. Louis on site in IT department in SAP team. Currently Working remotely from Virginia and might need to relocate to Dallas TX from current employer. I am not sure about Boeing, need guidance on the offer. Is it good decision to take the Boeing offer ? Current - 130k New offer - 150k YOE - 8
IMO, you can't put a price on workplace flexibility. But in your case, that extra $20K will be eaten up by gas and car maintenance alone. Besides, Boeing is a clusterfuck right now. Majority of its existing products can't be sold because of their shitty quality/engineering, it has no new products in the pipeline, it has only made a profit in 1 quarter since the start of the 737-Max fiasco, Boeing has started offshoring a lot of its IT/HR/Accounting work and the St. Louis operations are kind of in limbo since they're working on legacy programs that are being phased out and have yet to land new contracts. The health insurance is good compared to most companies, but on the whole their benefits aren't *THAT* good (no RSUs, no automatic 401K contribution, underwhelming bonuses, etc.)
Boeing has definitely been outsourcing finance and IT a lot lately. India and Europe and Dell to some extent is where those jobs went.
