Hi all, I've been at SPG for a little over a year now, and I'm very disapointed with the general engineering level and how not challenging the job is. I don't see any space for innovation or creativity in the project ; and the general level of engineers is much lower than at start-ups. At spg the only output is some pretty keynotes and fake schedule that no one cares about. spending 12-20 hr/week in meetings that lead nowhere. Is that just this one project or is this general at Apple? Given that, how does SPG or Apple reflect on a resume? I'm wondering if a lateral move at Apple is a smart move or if I should just go somewhere else. But then where to go to work with smart folks without loosing TC (300k+ / 12yr experience in "hardware" -- have to be vague). Are other big tech companies this way too? #hardware #engineer
I'm a new grad but isn't it a idealistic fantasy land thinking to expect a job to be "perfect and amazing" in this realm?
Good point ; but this is definitely the worse in my career so far. The general level is just really low. I was looking for feedback from folks who worked at different orgs at apple and/or different companies in SV to evaluate if it's a general culture issue at apple or if I'm just in the wrong project.
Move to other teams. This is definitely not the rest of Apple
Yup, def not the rest. Like not at all.
Spg is supposed to be working on cutting edge
that's what i thought before i joined. in my org at least it's not the case. we are way behind other companies on the hw. my impression is that sw is a bit more cutting edge.
Move to a different team. You are not in a Product group.
I don’t think SPG is a stagnant group
What does SPG do? I have asked someone to refer me to one of the positions as it did match my profile.
What is SPG ?
special project group
Silicon Product Group
