Boston vs. Bay Area comp conversion

Hey blind fam, New grad (‘23) recruiting in hardware currently (rip) Can anyone speak from experience how much Boston compensation vs. Bay Area compensation should differ for the same effective salary? Can I trust NerdWallet which is saying delta of $30k? Thanks everyone!

Same $$ savings? Same % savings? What do you spend money on?

Boston is basically tier 2 cost. Compare salaries in Seattle to get a good base. There are more of those

Fwiw, pay usually goes by cost of labor acquisition, not cost of living. I *expect* Seattle pay to be considerably higher than Boston, but I don’t have person experience

For big tech it seems to be a very similar band (or the same). For rando companies, yeah, it’s definitely lower on average I’d imagine.
