Hey everyone! I am looking for some advice. I am trying to break into tech, but I am having trouble figuring out what areas or types of jobs I should focus on with my background. Background: For the past 7 years, I have worked in supply chain, first for UPS and now for a supply chain start-up company. During my time at UPS, it was primarily warehouse operations focused. I led a team of around 50 people, individual contributors and managers, spread across 4 different areas, I was a part of the grand opening team and helped open up two new facilities with them, and ran those 4 areas in the day-to-day operations side. For the past 3 years, I have been at a supply chain start-up company and have served as a systems/process improvement manager. In this role, I still lead a team as well as work heavily on our warehouse systems to identify and lead improvement efforts, working closely on our process to develop and improve them, working/leading various projects and initiatives in those areas, and leading our training and development area for team members and leaders. With my background in system improvements and helping drive those changes, I was initially trying to pivot into a product-type role but not sure that’s the best fit. I would love any advice you have, and I am happy to send over my resume as well. Thanks!
CH Robinson (freight brokerage) has a large tech side that is trying to build out their applications and “digital transformation”. It might fit well with your background and desire to move to tech. I’m not sure if they’re currently hiring but might be worth a look.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! I hope everything works out for you.

I will check them out! Thanks!
I would say the most realistic leap would be maybe data or business analyst, I think in that space you'd have an advantage working in the field. Edit: just reread your post, maybe you could use your current role to start transitioning into data/business analytics.
You can’t switch industries and roles at the same time. Choose one. Big tech will give you an opportunity to interview in a Supply Chain role if you have solid supply chain experience. Make that move first, and then look to switch roles in a few years if you want to.
That’s great advice! Thank you

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Right now couldnt be a worse time to break into tech. Too much supply of people who have tech experience or new grads. But yes based on ur background, looks like product or project management
Thanks so much! And yeah, it definitely isn’t the ideal time from what everyone has been saying. That’s helpful feedback though.
