Why do families communicate so poorly
I got a DV Engineer offer at Broadcom SJ, which I feel is too low. Please help me evaluate it. YOE: 10+ Level: ICB3 Base (Annual): $140k RSUs ( 4 years): 250 (equivalent to $337K) Bonus: 20% and more Sign-on: ZERO! 401K match: 6% The only factors in favour are the stock value and the bonus. The recruiter claims that bonus of 20% is guaranteed. The team has data that they get more than 20% for at least a decade. I need more in my paycheck than in my RSUs. I also need parental leave in the next four months. I don’t know if the company offers that. #tech #broadcom
Share the BU name might help for people to confirm on the bonus. For your yeo you should 100% not take IC3 offer. There are posts you can check with IC4/IC5 offers on blind which you can use for reference.
Don’t take it.
Should probably be ICB4. You should push for that. Might be a budgeting thing. As for bonus, completely depends on the org. Good orgs will get close to 100% every year. The RSUs are the best part about the company. You can expect good refreshers every year. Since you have so much YOE, you could also try to push for a fast promotion. I would take it if it wouldn't be too much if a life change As for parental leave. You get two weeks guaranteed, and then it is based on the manager because we have "unlimited PTO"
If you need 4 months of parental leave - you are just left with the state sponsored sdi, pfl, cfra etc. Managers tend to help but not sure how much they can do when you are new without getting themselves in trouble.
Probably that’s why I need better numbers in my paystub. Are those numbers reasonable for this level?
They always offer within the range but the range is quite wide. Levels.fyi is probably a better guide for numbers imho. MS + 10 would have been an IC4 like many have pointed out. But that might not change base as much. Still worth asking.
10yr is at least ICB4 if not ICB5. You won’t get promotion till 3 yrs as that’s minimum req. All comp works on level so you need to uplevel to get more base/RSU everything. 2 weeks paternity leaves only. I wouldn’t jump ship for that offer. Also more bonus in past means only one thing. It will be harder to get bonus every year since they play fair to every group. Don’t expect 100% bonus forget more as many groups have this as norms.
The base and bonus is what you can expect to live on. RSUs are only extra income if you cash them out. If you decide to hold, sure... AVGO is trading at $1,400 today, but that can always change. If you need higher base, ask for it. I agree you should be at least ICB4
You only get 10 days of parental leave from Broadcom. The rest depends on the state
Bonus is guaranteed. We almost never have sign on bonus.
Read enough to know Broadcom ain’t right for you. Good luck in your search.
10+ YOE should be ICB4 at least
