Broadcom policy on work from India

Question to the BC folks in US - does Broadcom allow work from India? I have my India trip planned in Feb which I can’t skip. Can I work from either the VMware/Broadcom office there in India? What’s the BC policy around this?

I know folks who have in the past for a couple of weeks. They didn't go into an office (unless they wanted to meet teammates). There is no official policy, it's kinda just left to you and your management. It'll probably register as missed office attendance, but shouldn't matter much for a short vacation.

Yes if your management allows provided you have india team then working from that office should be fine.

Thanks folks!

Few weeks here and there is fine. Just work with your manager. If you are looking for extended period of work from india( 2 weeks +) you may need higher mgmt. approval . They typically allow if you have genuine reasons.

Thanks for asking this question! I created a helpnow ticket and asked our HR the same question and they were like you had to ask Broadcom HR once the deal closed LOL

Just a heads up, there are probably 20 HR across the globe to manage 20k employees to do very specific job. You go to manager for such things per Brcm norms.

OOO permitted is Max 4 weeks. Further is discretion of your manager, next manager and next manager

So even if you work from India it’s considered ooo? Basically either pto or not working in office is ooo?

VMware $$iquana Nov 26, 2023

Are you sure ooo is max 4 weeks a year in the U.S.? I know people have taken 3 2-week breaks. Or do you mean ooo is max 4 weeks per single request?

VMware $$iquana Nov 26, 2023

I have heard anecdotally that they look for around 80% office attendance including PTOs so that means out of 52 weeks, you could have up to 10 weeks not in assigned office which is 50 days. If you take 6 weeks of PTO every year that still leaves 4 weeks or 20 days of working remotely. Realistically though, not sure if Broadcom employees actually do that.
