I have two offers in DV area: Broadcom offer -San Jose Principal (icb5)- 220k/480k/50k Annual bonus 25% (55k)of base salary and multiplier for group and individual on top of it. Current group has been outstanding has multiplier Of 1.5 (~82k)on annual bonus since last 5 years. FRL - Sunnyvale -final numbers Ict5- 230k/400k/80k No idea on refreshers Current tc-320k in San Diego yoe-12 Broadcom tc looks good but don’t have much confidence in Broadcom leadership. No remote work too. FRL seems lowball to me and they won’t negotiate further. With my current tc in San Diego (I am single income earner)I am thinking Of declining at least FRL if not both. Is Broadcom that bad or is it only the perception? Also Broadcom pay in asic better than FAANG? I am inclining to decline both as I think even 400k tc in Bay Area might not be good enough(compare to quality of life/housing etc with current tc in San Diego) Also i interviewed with apple and they couldn’t offer ict5 and ict4 numbers were close to my current tc. #hardware #semiconductor

Wcc has all its eggs in a single bucket. It has only one customer, who is on its way to make its own chip. So it should not be anyone s long term bet. You will make good money and enjoy good wlb. But in most teams you will not have challenging work. Frl should be a no brainer.

Choose Broadcom. There are tons of groups to move internally if things don’t work out. 220k base for icb5 is fantastic!
Your target Broadcom refreshers is 85%- 90 % of base. So your steady state TC = 462k to 490k, depending on bonus. This is without stock appreciation.

Join BRCM WC is good group. Customer is not going to make their own chip. Your bonus is guaranteed. Work life balance is good. Every chip tapped out makes money. Stock is good. Moves slowly also gives good dividend.

I have been hearing this for the last 10 years. Customer has more to loose than gain by not going with Broadcom. Customer has wcc chip in all of their product. Wcc chips are not that expensive and Broadcom js ahead of everyone in it. Customer is made BT chip but that’s it and working on modem chip that has bigger returns than wifi chip
